THE ELIMINATION OF ADMINISTERED ZINC IN PANCREATIC JUICE, DUODENAL JUICE, AND BILE OF THE DOG AS MEASURED BY ITS RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPE (Zn65)

چکیده
The excretion of intravenously injected labeled zinc into pancreatic juice, duodenal juice, and bile of the dog was investigated. The use of the radioactive isotope permitted the injection of minute amounts of zinc, amounts that were negligible when compared with the total amount of zinc already present in the animal. 1. A large proportion of the injected Zn(65) was eliminated by way of the external secretion of the pancreas. As much as 11 per cent was excreted in the pancreatic juice in 14 days. 2. Very little of the administered radiozinc appeared in the bile. The maximum excretion observed for this pathway was 0.4 per cent in 8 days. 3. Radiozinc was also found in large amounts in the juice obtained from an isolated loop of the duodenum.

Major duodenal papilla and its normal anatomy.
The major duodenal papilla (papilla of Vater) is the point where the dilated junction of the bile and pancreatic ducts (ampulla of Vater) enter the duodenum. The ampulla is surrounded by the sphincter of Oddi, which not only controls the flow of bile and pancreatic juice into the duodenum, but also prevents the reflux of duodenal contents, bile and pancreatic juice into the bile and pancreatic ...

The effect of intraduodenal and intraruminal infusion of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) on exocrine pancreatic secretions was studied in 27 Polish Merino sheep that were surgically fitted with a common bile duct catheter, a gall-bladder catheter and two duodenal T-cannulas for collection and subsequent return of pancreatic juice, and with a ruminal cannula. Animals were fed ad libitum with sila...
متن کاملThe Frequency of Bacterial Agents in the Bile Juice of Patients with Bile Stones and Biliary Disorders
Abstract Background and objectives: Bile in healthy people is a sterile fluid and presence of any microorganism can be a marker for a disorder like cholelithiasis. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of bacterial agents in the bile of patients with bilestone, malignant pancreatic and biliary diseases. Material and Methods: One hundred and two bile samples were obtained, during ...
متن کاملPhysiological control of cholecystokinin release and pancreatic enzyme secretion by intraduodenal bile acids.
BACKGROUND The physiological relevance of duodenal bile acids in the control of cholecystokinin release and pancreatic enzyme secretion is still unknown. AIMS To provide a near physiological situation by perfusing a bile acid mixture mimicking the individual endogenous bile acid composition of the person under investigation. For maximal reduction of endogenous bile output the CCK-A receptor a...
متن کاملLysolecithin: a factor in the pathogenesis of gastric ulceration?
Lysolecithin is formed when pancreatic juice and bile mix in the duodenum. Lysolecithin concentrations have been measured in intermittent samples of night gastric juice from patients with gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers and in normal controls. In gastric ulcer patients, the mean of the peak concentrations (444 mug/ml) and mean of concentrations in all samples (199 mug/ml) were significantly ...
